Not long now until the 2017 edition of the Pride of Clover begins to take shape! Very soon we'll begin to hear & see REDEMPTION come to life on the field!!! First... Week #1 Reminders -CHECK THE UPDATED SCHEDULE/INFO AS THERE ARE SOME UPDATES! -9-5 for winds & percussion & 1-9 for color guard. -The band room will be open by 8:30am -EVERYONE will need to bring a sack lunch every day this week. -For the safety of all, no one will be allowed to leave campus to go get food or for any reason, so please plan accordingly now. -We will have a drink station during lunch. -You can bring your case (24 cans) of soda and other donations before we start @ 9am or when we finish @ 5pm. -We will be outside during the mornings and inside in the afternoons. -Please review the check list for the items you should have at camp. All of these items are REQUIRED for safety & comfort. Please don’t forget anything! -EAT BREAKFAST! THIS IS A MUST! You are going to be active and your body needs fuel. Stay away from milk products unless you eat before 7am. -If you have a bad knee/ankle, WEAR YOUR BRACE STARTING DAY 1. Don’t wait until it hurts to put your brace on! -If you have an inhaler, KEEP IT ON YOU AT ALL TIMES! It will do you little good in the band room or worse… at home. -I’ve been sending reminders about being properly hydrated this entire week. This weekend is your last chance to hydrate your body. IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Please drink lots of water all weekend long! Second... Every year we get to this point and I start receiving calls/e-mails/texts that "Mr. Gulledge, I'm sorry, but ____________ has decided he/she doesn't want to do band after all." Even after 24 years teaching this is a "punch in the gut" to hear. The reasons vary, but ultimately the bottom line is... it's going to hurt the band. I’m beginning my 24th year as a band director and when presented with this issue I always counsel parents to push their student to follow through with their commitment. It sets the tone for them to be successful in high school and realize that their word/commitment is binding and requires follow through; important skills as they continue to grow and mature in preparation for adulthood. As parents I need your help to make sure commitments are honored. At this point drill has been written, uniforms purchased and many, many plans made for a specific number of students. Money has already been spent in anticipation of participation. Please be sure before a decision is made that you review the commitment form and the fees associated with dropping at this late date. Finally... We are still VERY short of parent help both weeks of camp. We cannot do this without help. High quality, competitive band programs take many dedicated and committed parent helpers... not just the same 8-10 at every event. Can you cut up some oranges for our kids? Can you be there to help a kid who gets overheated or twists an ankle? Can you help put together some sandwiches or mix up some Gatorade? Can you help our program? I look forward to seeing everyone in the coming weeks as we head through Band Camp 2017!

Welcome to the Clover Bands new web page! Having a user friendly and functioning web page has been desperately needed for quite a while and one of the main things that I wanted to do when I first arrived at Clover. While it has taken longer than expected, I am very happy with the initial results and hope that everyone will start using this as one of the "go-to" communication portals!
Many thanks to Michelle Yorick for getting the "ball rolling" on this and getting it off the ground. As we move forward it is our plan to add "editors & contributors" to the web page so that it will stay up-to-date with needed/useful information. If you would be interested in assisting, please contact Michelle Yorick |
