Anne Lewis Turner, a native of Columbia, South Carolina, spent her formative years in Charlotte, North Carolina. She currently holds the position of Associate Director of Bands and Associate Director of Percussion at Clover High School in Clover, South Carolina. Under her leadership, the programs have garnered numerous awards and recognition both statewide and nationally. During Anne's tenure, The Clover High School Pride of Clover Marching Band achieved significant accolades, including the 2007 South Carolina 4A State Marching Band Championship, the 2022 BOA East Regional Championship, the 2023 South Carolina 5A Bronze Medal, and the 2024 Dublin St. Patrick's Day Parade Best Intermediate Band award. Additionally, the Clover High School Indoor Drumline was a finalist in Winter Guard International in 2012 (PSO), 2014 (PSO), and 2018 (PSA), and received the WGI Fan Favorite award for their shows "Pop" in 2014 and "Beyond the Thorns" in 2018. The school also earned the 2022 WGI PSA Gold Medal for their show "Medusa," the 2023 WGI PSO Gold Medal for "Nevermore," and the 2024 WGI PSCW Silver Medal for "Cathedral Sketches." Anne graduated from Winthrop University in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education, studying under Dr. Lori Crochet, Dr. B. Michael Williams, Dr. Adam Snow, and Dr. Douglas Presley. She previously served as the Director of Bands at Great Falls High School in Great Falls, South Carolina, and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Winthrop University from 2021 to 2023. Anne earned a Master of Music in Percussion Performance and a Master of Music in Wind Conducting from Winthrop in May 2023.
In addition to her teaching and directing roles, Anne performs with local bands and percussion ensembles, provides private instruction at her studio, and offers clinician and design consultation services. She is also the Front Ensemble Caption Head for Civitas Independent in Rock Hill, South Carolina, an organization she has been involved with since 2015. Under her guidance, Civitas Independent has achieved notable success, including the 2022 PIO Silver Medal for their show "The Noise Within," a 4th place ranking in PIO in 2023, and a 5th place ranking in PIO in 2024.
Anne currently serves as an active member of the Board of Directors for the Carolina Winter Ensemble Association. Her previous roles include serving on the WGI Advisory Board in 2019 and 2024, the CWEA Advisory Board in 2019, and presenting at the 2022 WGIcon conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. Additionally, Anne performed as an artist at the 2017 New York Sounds of Spring Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
