Courtney Wyatt is the Associate Band Director at Clover High School. A native of Clover, Courtney rejoined the program after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Winthrop University and is now in her 11th year teaching at Clover. During her tenure, the Pride of Clover Marching Band has achieved significant accolades, including 2022 BOA East Regional Class Champion, 2023 South Carolina 5A Bronze Medal, 2024 Dublin St. Patrick's Day Parade Best Intermediate Band, and the title of Grand Champion at numerous local competitions.
As Associate Director, Courtney leads the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and assists with the Wind Ensemble, all of which have received consistent Superior Ratings at state contest. Additionally, Courtney is the lead instructor for Music Theory and the coordinator for all CHS chamber programs and private lessons. Under her direction, the CHS Brass Quintet was selected as a featured performer at the 2019 South Carolina Music Educators Association. For three years in a row, the CHS Trumpet Ensemble was selected as a semi-finalist at the National Trumpet Competition and received 2nd in the nation in 2022. In 2024, the CHS Jazz Ensemble made their debut performance at the South Carolina Jazz Performance Assessment, where they received Superior Ratings. In both 2023 and 2024, the CHS Saxophone Quartet was selected to perform at the prestigious Houston Underground Saxophone Competition in Houston, Texas. CHS also has a very active flute choir, clarinet quartet, horn choir, trombone quartet, tuba-euphonium ensemble, woodwind quintet, and alumni brass quintet. With Courtney’s leadership, CHS has established a dynamic private lessons program comprised of over 100 students studying with local university professors and area professionals. In addition to her teaching at the high school, she also aids in private and group instruction at Clover and Oakridge Middle Schools.
An active member of the South Carolina Band Directors Association and South Carolina Music Educators Association, Courtney serves on the Allstate Band Committee and was selected to present at the 2023 and 2024 SCMEA Conference, as well as the 2023 Old English Consortium. She is also active in the National Association for Music Education, International Trumpet Guild, and Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society.
Outside of teaching at Clover, Courtney spends much of her time performing and teaching privately throughout the Carolinas. She has recently performed with the Rock Hill Symphony, Charlotte Master Chorale, York County Choral Society, and numerous chamber ensembles. Courtney is currently Principal Trumpet of the Carolinas Wind Orchestra and serves on the CWO Board of Directors and is also the Co-Director and founding member of the Carolina Trumpet Choir.
