Mr. Zackery McCarter is a native of South Carolina having received his undergraduate degree in K-12 Instrumental Music Education from Winthrop University.
Mr. McCarter serves as the Director of Bands at Oakridge Middle School and as an Assistant Director for the Bands of Clover. His previous experience includes intermediate, middle, and high school instruction in the areas of general music, choir, and band in the Fort Mill and York School Districts. Mr. McCarter has had the privilege to work with bands across South Carolina who have medaled at state contest 11 times over the past 17 years, including 4 Upper State Championships, BOA Regional Finalists and Grand National Semi-Finalists.
While serving his school and incredible students, Mr. McCarter is also an active member of the South Carolina Music Educators Association, South Carolina Band Directors Association, and the National Association for Music Education. As an educator outside of his own classroom in OMS, he travels across the Southeast as a clinician, judge, and presenter.
Mr. McCarter currently resides in York, SC with his wife, Mariah, and two children, Sloan and Elowyn.
