Todd Winder

Todd has been involved with color guard for nearly 30 years. Calling himself a “backyard spinner,” he began his love of of the sport at age 5.

Todd was a member of both the marching band as well as the Winterguard throughout all of his middle school and high school years at Westmont Hilltop (Johnstown, PA). After high school, Todd attended Cambria Rowe Business College.

Todd started marching DCI in 1998 with the General Butler Vagabonds. Spending two summers with the Vagabonds, they achieved a Bronze Medal in 1999. Todd next marched with Crossmen, where he spent four summers (00-03). In 2003, Todd was appointed to be one of the color guard captains. Todd then marched Cadets (04-05) While with Cadets, he was a member of the 2005 High Color Guard and also the World Champion Drum Corp.

Todd began teaching at Greater Johnstown High School shortly after graduating. He spent six years with them as the designer and director. While there, he lead the team to six straight TIA Championships. Todd decided to move south in 2008 and relocated to Charlotte, NC. Shortly after moving to Charlotte, Todd began teaching with Philip Rainer at Fort Mill HS for the next 5 years. Todd took over as the Clover color guard director in 2013.

Other teaching and design experiences along the way include: Allegany HS (Cumberland, MD.),Trinity HS (Pittsburgh, PA), Kiski HS (Vandergrift, PA), Itawamba Community College (Itawamba, MS.), Colts Drum And Bugle Corps (Iowa) and Etude (Rock Hill, SC).

Aside from Color Guard, Todd works for Hospice & Palliative Care of Charlotte and he resides in Fort Mill, SC.
